Navy SH-60F Helicopter Wash Party, USS Midway Hangar 805, NAS North Island, Coronado, Ca, June 9, 2023
Many thanks to our volunteers from HSC-3 at North Island who came over Friday morning and scrubbed the ‘bird well for us, including the inside cabin floor panels, the two engine inlets which will eventually be reattached and the transmission drip pan. As in Midway fashion with their volunteers, our active duty were invited to the 1000 ice cream social the Midway volunteers have each day to break up the morning of aircraft work. The old ‘bird is now relatively free of Tucson desert sand and the underside is thoroughly cleaned which is important for the upcoming scan of the underside as part of designing the thick steel mounting plate that will bolt to the underside of the aircraft. The design/construction of the plate is being handled by the engineers at NADEP San Diego by Cherry Point NC Engineers……….mgb
