NAVY SH-60F Aircraft Move from Midway Hangar 805 to HSC-4 Double Dome Hangars NAS North Island Tuesday, June 13, 2023
The SH-60F was moved this morning by a crew from HSC-4 from the Midway Hangar over to the Double Dome Hangars so the wing volunteers could have easy access to preparing it for re-paint next month. They are going to scuff up the paint in most areas as part of the paint prep, but will not be sanding/grinding down to bare metal. Once finished, the ‘bird will return to the Midway Hanger where it will get repainted by the Midway volunteers with the tail section done by the Fly girl Painter.
While over in HSC-4 spaces , the volunteers will be removing the hydraulic pumps and reinstalling a couple small antennas and the “Hot Dog” position light as Bill refers to it. The four main rotors blades are going to be transported over to the aircraft by the HSCWing so they can also be prepped for paint before being moved back to the Midway Hangar where at least one will be re-mounted. The rest will wait till we actually take the aircraft to the front gate to be mounted on the pedestal………..mgb
